Celebrate Easter at Grace Ridge

2025 Easter Schedule

The Hope of Easter

As we journey through this season of Lent leading up to Easter Sunday, we invite you will take part in as many of these events as you can.

Thursday Prayer Nights
6pm–7pm
Mar 27, Apr 3, 10, 17

The church sanctuary will be open on Thursday nights through Easter for a time of prayer, meditation, and reflection. This is a self-directed time where you can freely come and go. Come to pray, be prayed for, or simply sit in silence.

Palm Sunday
April 13: 10:00am

Palm Sunday celebrates Christ’s entry into Jerusalem. This Sunday ushers us into the passion week with joy and celebration. This inspirational service will provide a time for the confession of sin and nailing sins to the cross.

Good Friday Service
April 18: 6:30pm

This powerful Tenebrae service walks in the footsteps of Christ through his last days up to his last breath on the cross.

What to expect at a Tenebrae Service?
Tenebrae is a Latin word for “shadows” or “darkness.” This service is characterized by diminishing light. Light is a symbol of joy and life, while darkness is a symbol of mourning and death. You will notice the sanctuary is void of color and decor, reminding us that this is somber occasion.

Throughout the service there will be scripture readings and songs that tell the story of Jesus’ last hours. Six candles will be extinguished during the service and the sanctuary will progressively become darker as we work our way through scripture readings.

During Advent, we light candles in anticipation of Christ coming into a dark world. On this evening we extinguish candles, remembering that light was overcome (at least for a time) by the darkness of sin and death.

A “strepitus” marks the conclusion of the service; a Latin word meaning “great noise.” This sound represents the earthquake upon Jesus’ death and the sound of the tomb being sealed. The noise culminates with a thunder clap, after which the pastors will walk the Christ candle out of the sanctuary, representing Jesus leaving the world through death.

When the pastors have exited, the sanctuary lights will come back on so you can make your way to the exit.

Entering and Exiting in Silence
As this is service commemorates a somber occasion, we ask that you observe a sacred and reverent silence throughout the service—including entering and exiting the church.

Easter Sunday Services
Sunday, April 20
Two Services: 9:00am and 10:30am

This celebratory day is the high point of the year for the church—Jesus has risen! He has defeated death, forgiven our sins, and we live in hope and anticipation of the day when we will be resurrected with him.

Note for Parents
On Easter Sunday we provide a family service, so there will not be Kid's JAM (K–5th Grade). Kids remain with their families during the service. Activity packets will be available in the lobby.

However, childcare for Pre-K (0–4yrs) will be available.
